| Bio: |  Name: Ezra Ramas Age: 49 D.O.B.: April 4, 1962 Blood Type: B+ Race: Born witch and medium Level: 4 (black), 5 (blood) Powers: Aside from the general abilities of a medium and a witch of his type, Ezra has combined his abilities in a way that he can and often does charm or bind spirits to his will, to help protect himself and collect information for him. He has a deft touch, though, and usually the spirit doesn't even know it has been bespelled and merely thinks it likes Ezra enough to be helping him out of friendship. Who knows? He might even like them, back. He is attempting to broaden his skills into affecting living spirits, but he isn't there yet. One other trick of note is spell of his own design that, when he carries an item tied to the spell, it gives him an aura of "someone else". It doesn't change his features, as such, but when active it makes his face either "familiar" or "unrecognizable", so that a victim will be more likely to remember him as someone else in their memory, or be unable to accurately remember his face. This spell depends entirely on keeping the spelled item on his person, and it doesn't affect pictures taken on digital cameras-- though old-fashioned negative film will only show a blur. Physical Description: Solid and sturdy of build, muscled like a fighter, and not particularly tall at only 5'6", Ezra could run to chubby if he let himself, but he stays in peak shape as much as possible. He has a square, open sort of face surrounded by a thick mane of untamed, dark brown hair, threaded here and there with silver. His skin is a dusky tan, criss-crossed with scars on his arms and body with one or two on his face, and he wears a thick, salt-and-pepper mustache and mutton chops. His eyes are gray, appearing almost colorless in direct light. Ezra's clothing varies quite a bit depending on his mood and current job, from wildly flamboyant to comfortably conservative to even plain, though even at his most exotic he prefers strange cuts and styles-- he's a big fan of oriental clothing-- to bright colors. The only bright colors he is ever seen in are red and occasionally white, generally preferring black and blue and brown. Personality: The fact that Ezra hunts supernaturals surprises those few who know him. For one thing, he is not particularly evil in the traditional sense. He's not selfish, or angry, or needlessly destructive; he has no ambition or goals beyond the needs of the day; he has very little in the way of pride or arrogance. He's just generally amoral and a bit overly curious, which together is a dangerous combination. Most of the time, really, he comes across as friendly, almost jovial, even when he's killing someone. For another, he is not particularly independent or rebellious: he quite simply needs a leader, an employer, to give his loyalty to-- though he will turn on that leader if he is betrayed and visit punishment to the best of his ability before he finds a new one. In most situations, though, he doesn't have much of a temper or desire for revenge like some hunters; his motivation to hunt, if you asked him, would most likely be curiosity. Ezra has a strong sense of honor in regards to some things, and he sees this honor as its own reward. He is slightly masochistic, enjoying the thrill and clarity of pain rather than going out of his way to avoid it, and he enjoys diving into a bad situation and seeing what happens: will he save the day, or cause disaster? He can be devious and often cruel on a whim, but there is doubt as to whether this is an act or how he really is-- few really know, sometimes not even himself. Ezra is quick-thinking, and very good at predicting others and acting on what he predicts. Sexuality: "Equal opportunity", as he'd call it. History: Ezra grew up largely alone. His parents both worked hard to keep them afloat, leaving him with his grandmother who was slowly going senile and didn't generally watch over him like she should have. He didn't get into much trouble, really, but he never formed much in the way of attachments, either. His first experience with death was at age eight when his grandmother died of a heart attack; he watched her die and didn't call 911 until his father came by to pick him up. Ezra found the death fascinating. After that, he looked for death in things and people, animals and plants, and hit the jackpot when one of his teachers in junior high introduced him to blood magic. True, she was actually a gray witch who tried to get him to follow her footsteps when she learned about his mind and guessed at his aptitude for magic, and only knew low-level, self-defense blood magic. He fixated on the few blood magic spells she exposed him to, though, and once he started high school he moved on to doing his own research when his teacher washed her hands of him. While finding a lot of spells and research was difficult, he was persistent and thorough-- and school bored him, so he spent more time on magic than homework-- and by the time he left for college on a wrestling scholarship and satisfactory though not stellar grades, he was proficient in second-level blood magic and getting there in black magic. After college, Ezra stumbled upon hunting more than he sought it. One of his coworkers in the job he landed was a vampire, and after an accidental discovery of each other's talents-- she tried to bite him, and he blew her off using his own blood as a catalyst for the spell-- wound up working together for a time, him helping her round up meals and her letting him take power from her kills and her own blood. When she was beheaded a few years later, it simply seemed natural to continue the trend. Ezra has worked for three of the very few vampire houses who hire hunters. One he was "fired" from when the head of house changed, one he was betrayed by and he subsequently destroyed the elder who had betrayed him, and he has recently started work for Gabriel House in the Ann Arbor area, moving in just two weeks ago. He uses his work to fuel his own spells, both blood and black, which seems a fair deal, to him: they get the blood-delicacies they want, and he gets a little blood and cast-off death energies to cast with, on top of his salary. It's pretty much win-win for him-- at least until the politics change. Since the Light of May: Though he knew it was coming, let in on the secret by the elders of his current vampire family, Ezra is simply thrilled by this development. It makes his job so much easier, tracking down supernaturals and stealing them away or draining their blood. He isn't worried that he'll ever be discovered; he's careful, and worry isn't something he does, anyway. He's even come out as a medium, himself, as another "cover". What medium, after all, would go in for creating more ghosts? Special Skills/Abilities: In general, fighting-- he's actually best with his bare hands and a pair of brass knuckles, which he deems the most "fair" way to fight, though he always carries a knife and is pretty good with a long-range rifle. He's in extremely good shape for a hunter of his age, though he's unsurprisingly scarred up. He's a pretty good driver, nearly race-car caliber: put him behind the wheel of a car, and nothing can catch him or stop him. Personal Weaknesses: Over-Confident: Ezra simply doesn't worry about getting caught. He assumes he never will. He's careful, sure, and he always has at least one contingency plan to escape if things go south, but that's more of a mental exercise than out of real concern. He rarely thinks things will go south, so he often waits too long, to the minute after the last minute, to get out. Even experiences in the past with failure haven't yet taught him to be more cautious. Masochistic: Yes, Ezra likes pain, quite a bit sometimes, though he actually finds less thrill in dispensing it than in receiving it. In some situations, he likes being the one out of control or under control of another. He isn't afraid of dying, so coming close to death is exciting rather than worrying, and he's generally happier if he has someone to serve in one capacity or another. Chaotic: On the whole, people rarely can accurately predict how Ezra will react to things-- even Ezra has trouble with it, sometimes. He is unpredictable even to himself, and he likes it that way, even though it makes life a little hectic sometimes. Lack of self-regard: Most people have the ability to look at themselves and wonder why they do things, reason through their motivations, and to introspect. Ezra doesn't, and he can't conceive of living any other way. It adds to his unpredictable nature, and makes it difficult for him to explain himself or understand other people-- predict, yes, from decades of experience; understand why... no. He can't relate their experience to his own and use that to understand them, and he assumes most people have the same deficiency, making deep relationships difficult. Curious: Ezra both hates mysteries and loves them: he can't let a thing alone if he doesn't know all there is to know about it-- this goes for things, places, events, and people. He can ask far too intrusive questions of people, spy on them, anything he can think of to get to the bottom of a mystery. It's one reason he pokes at people so much, his inability to understand them making them constantly mysterious. Personal Strengths: Intelligence: While he might have trouble connecting on an emotional level to people, there's nothing wrong with Ezra's intellect. He never stops thinking, planning, and analyzing data. Even when he's relaxing or having fun-- as much "fun" as he really ever has that doesn't involve messily sacrificing someone-- some part of his brain is still going off in the background about this spell or that victim or this other escape route. Loyalty: Up to and until he is betrayed by a master or a friend, Ezra is unfailingly loyal. It isn't money or support or even friendship that keeps him from breaking vows, it is those vows themselves, whether spoken to another or just to himself. When he decides he's with you, he is really with you, until you give him an incontrovertible proof that you do not deserve it. Spirits: Generally, Ezra has at a spirit in his presence at all times, acting as a kind of (sometimes) silent bodyguard and second set of eyes-- though sometimes it is a distraction, as well, if it's chatty or excitable or irritated, or sneaks some magical energy to disrupt the living in a poltergeist manner. This spirit changes regularly as bindings run out or he gets tired of it. Other mediums or those gifted with spirit-sight can see these spirits, and witches guessing they're there can sever the ties. Family: None of note, both parents are deceased and if he has any siblings, he doesn't know it. Living Conditions: He has just recently purchased a well-appointed house in the nicer side of Scarlet Oak, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a basement where he does his magic. There's a granny suite in the back that he plans to rent out, cheap. This is currently untenanted, but he's looking for someone. He won't kill them, he swears. Career/Job: Hunter for the Gabriel House. He has upon arrival started advertising as a medium to help people contact their departed loved ones or exorcise ghosts from an area.
